Back Christmas Oratorio

A celebration of the music making done by members of the Queen Mary Music Society.  Handel’s Zadok the Priest is one of his best loved and mightiest compositions, originally composed for the coronation of George II in 1727 and has been sung at every coronation since.  Schubert’s unfinished Symphony or Symphony no. 8  was written 6 years before his death but somehow was left incomplete. Although many reasons why have been put forward,  to this day musicologists still can’t agree.  As described by its name, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio was written for the 1734 Christmas season. Earlier compositions are included like three secular cantatas written during 1733 and 1734 and BWV248a, a church cantata.
