In 1918, Schoenberg founded the influential Verein für musikalische Privataufführungen. Marking the centenary of the society's foundation, this concert celebrates its ideals, bringing together some of London's most talented instrumentalists and singers. They perform Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde in a new arrangement by Iain Farrington together with Schoenberg's Chamber Symphony no.1.

A pre-concert talk with conductor Finnegan Downie Dear, QMUL Director of Music Dr. Paul Edlin and Mahler scholar Dr. Michelle Castelletti will discuss the Verein in the context of Viennese musical life at the turn of the Twentieth Century.
